Collection: Tejo
Poor sandy soils in the south (‘charneca’), calcareous clay ('bairro’) and outcrops of limestone and schist in the north produce Tejo’s best wines. These are typically made from popular national and international varieties, but old vine Castelão and Fernão Pires from charneca soils can be very good and are receiving greater attention.
