The Quinta de Biaia brand was founded in 2014 by childhood friends Carlos Flor and Ricardo Lopes Ferro (who inherited the land) and Luís Leocádio, the talented winemaker behind Titan of Douro (Discovery Box 2).  For many years, nearly all Quinta de Biaia’s grapes were sold to Quinta do Cardo, Beira Interior’s pioneer of modern winemaking.  When it went bankrupt in 2017, Leocádio (who also made Cardo’s wines), Flor and Lopes Ferro seized the opportunity to scale up production at Quinta da Biaia.  With 29 certified organic hectares of vines split across three sites, Quinta da Biaia is now a leading force in Beira Interior.
