'I make no apologies for including another wine made by Luís Leocádio, this one from a vineyard in the little known region of Távora-Varosa DOC.  Known as ‘Douro Sul’ (Douro south), Leocádio’s Douro DOC vineyards are located in the northern part of the Távora Valley.  Luís sent me a sample of his first (2018) vintage from Távora-Varosa in 2020. I loved its verve and minerality, although true to the Portuguese varieties and climate, Daemon has an enticing phenolic edge to the palate, which imparts extra depth of flavour and a subliminal tension of fine tannins.'
